What to Expect:
Owned by the District of Lunenburg since 2011, River Ridge Common is a 115 acre park in the north end of the Municipality.
Existing River Ridge Common park facilities include singletrack trails, easy gravel doubletrack multi-use trails, a large natural playground with features that encourage exploration, adventure and skills development, a beginner bike skills area and pump track, and waterfall lookoff areas. Spring 2022 marks the opening of the park’s expanded singletrack trail system, making for a total 10km of professionally-built singletrack trails, in addition to about 4km of gravel doubletrack and other trails.
Continuing development plans for the park include an Off Highway Vehicle pull off and rest area next to the rail trail that transits through the park.
River Ridge Common is a great pairing with nearby Kejimkujik National Park.
For
River Ridge has a welcoming networking of wide, gravel surfaced trails suitable for riders of all abilities. Families with younger riders will enjoy exploring the natural playground, skills area, pump track, and interconnecting network of trails in the lower park.
For those looking for a longer ride, head across the rail trail to the upper park and explore the hillside and forests, maybe even venture on to some of the beginner single track to spice things up a bit.
Start with the wider gravel trails, explore the bike park, pump track and playground before moving on to the green circle single track trails, most of which are found in the upper park.
Intermediate level riders have plenty of options to explore at River Ridge Common in both the upper and lower park. You can expect to find more rocks and steeper Ines when compared to the park’s green trails, and even a few optional side lines for those who know where to look.
River Ridge’s advanced trails all feature demanding, rocky terrain with optional boulder rolls, ledges, and drop offs. The park’s advanced trails are found as splits off of some of the intermediate singletrack trails.
