Nova Scotian Racer Looking for a ‘Shore Thing’ and the MTB World Cup in Europe
Custom Sock Fundraiser to support European Mountain Bike Racing Campaign
Local competitive cyclist, Mackenzie Myatt is selling custom Nova Scotia-themed socks by Endur Apparel’s Custom Labs Co to support her European Mountain Bike World Cup Racing Campaign. The season, Myatt will start in the US and move to Europe for World Cup racing with National Team, come back to Canada for the classic Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup and swing by the Maritimes for two Canada Cups before hopefully culminating in World Championships in Les Gets, France.
I worked closely with designers to create a fun, vibrant sock that reflects my pride in being from Nova Scotia. Racing has taken me all over Canada, the US and Europe but I am always happy to come home to the ocean, the salty air and of course, seashells!
For Myatt, seashells represent the childhood wonder and innate draw to the sea. Whenever she comes home, the first thing she does is visit Martinique Beach.
I’m not really home until I see the ocean again.
Visiting the water has also been crucial to Myatt’s mental health during the pandemic. In the summer of 2020 in order to calm the mind, she made time to walk on the beach every day.
I would close my eyes and listen to the waves crash and lull and breathe.
Socks are available to purchase for $25/pair in Small-Medium or Medium-Large online through the Cyclesmith website.
